The private-markets shelf has widened quietly over the last decade. Hedge funds, private credit, private equity, real estate, and venture capital are no longer 5 separate conversations sitting at the edge of a portfolio, they are the core of almost every serious family-office allocation above a certain size. The challenge is that access to that shelf is still fragmented.

The firm was founded in 2021 and the platform has been deliberately small since the day we started. There are 12 asset managers currently represented on the shelf and the number grows in single digits per year, because the diligence bar is the product and loosening it would defeat the reason the network exists in the first place. There are 200 global investors in the network today.

Michael Calvo Elhauge serves as our head of family office and is the founder and chief executive of Pactum Partners, a Miami-based family office advisory firm. Wei Huang is our senior advisor and is currently senior vice president on the Global Family Office OCIO team at Northern Trust Asset Management, with prior coverage that spans Oregon State Treasury, Citi, and Morgan Stanley.

Admission to the network is by application. Every prospective investor completes an accredited or qualified investor attestation and goes through a short interview with a member of the coverage team. Once admitted, you receive ongoing access to the full sponsor shelf, you meet the general partners directly rather than through a reseller, and the Shpira coverage team runs the diligence workflow alongside you.
